Summary of alcohol and tobacco

Alcohol and tobacco advertising is such a hot topic because, it is shown to and influences many people, of all ages. This is including the younger generations. Many people have a strong opinion on this, as it is a very hot topic. Should advertising for these products be allowed in our magazines or on our TV commercials? Some think no, because it is a dangerous example to children and influences them to try drinking or smoking. This can have very bad effects on children or young adults, and cause them to become addicted to cigarettes and/or alcohol and therefore lead to an unsuccessful life. A celebrity in a popular movie which is a young child’s role model could be showed smoking and influence the child to try this unhealthy habit. There are many other ways to influence children to become “cool” or like their favorite celebrity, magazines, TV, commercials, movies, etc. Should we allow this to be in plain sight? No, we should not.

Urban Legend

The loch ness moster-or "nessie" legend says that a seacreature-like monster is living lake Loch ness in Scotland. The legend starts with a christian monk from Ireland, St.Columba who allegedly soothed Nessie and convinced her not to murder. Another person who says they saw and ph'otographed the beast is Dr. Robert Kenneth Wilson who made a fake photograph of his "sighting". Although the photograph was said to be likely an otter or a tree trunk instead of nessie the beast, tourists rack-in an estimated $37 million visiting the lake in 1993. In recent years the business has slowed and Nessie is looked at as fake. The lake has been explored by a submarine and many cameras have been placed around the lake to capture any new photos of this fake.

Blogging

I think blogging is fun because you can talk about whatever you want. It's also fun because of all the other settings you can mess with on your profiwle and in your about me, etc. I liked adding the google gadget and playing the games on other people' blogs.

To me media violence is...

To me media violence is violent images, actions or encouragements of violence in video games, television, movies and magazines. Media violence could be a story on the news about rape, fighting, or even murder. Media violence could be simply a violent video game or a movie. It is all around us, in commercials, on the news and in almost all of our video games. Even a small child's game like lego starwars includes violence. I was playing this game (which is rated 10+) with my little brother lastnight and the object, he explained to me, is to beat-up the legos in the purple shirts to steal their money. This is an obvious example that media violence is all around us, encouraging kids that violence is the way to win and get what you want, like money. It's even in a legos game!
